Time for .... something new ...

I´m working at some pouches while working on my swaps (I´m waiting for my inch-ruler, to have less problems in cutting squares...) ... I wanted to try something new - I thought I´ve seen something like this - button flowers - somewhere in flickr, but couldn´t find again (to make sure not to copy) ... so these are my flowers: some machine-stitched hems, hand-embroidered leaves and mother-of-pearl-buttons on an 100-year old linen.
On the back I tried to "write" my logo. I didn´t want to use my tags all the time - something new:) So I used free-motion stitching ... hmmm - what do you think??

These are some already finished ones - patchwork plus little quilting! The button zipper pulls are still not finished on this picture ...

Time ... for swapping

It´s January and I have decided that´s it´s time to do some swapping again ... I´m in swap-bot swaps to improve my cutting and exact sewing :). Well, what to say: I´n not the queen of exact cutting (as I don´t have an inch ruler...) and this exact sewing, those corners... this little tool called seam rippener ( ?? ) is actually my best friend!
This red Amish Star was a problem in itself - it was so hard to follow an easy tute! I mean it was all MY problem to see what is left and right, up and down ... but at the end - tadaa - finished and ready to go!! It´s my first block made from several blocks!

This one was easier! I used for the first time some kona cotton (what a nice fabric). I had to make a little change in the pattern, from paper piecing to pieced... well, what to say - measuring and math ... but again - after some trial and error:

The picture down there is another swap. I saw once a picture in flickr.... and kept it in mind because I wanted to make one too. In sewmamasew (look for Tiny Ticker Tape Quilt) she has made a tute!! So: it was easy and fun, but all those threads ....

And today I got my partner in DQS8 - yipiee! I already have some ideas in my head ... but first I´ll have to do some "productive" sewing - some pouches for my shop!

And in between, I have to take care of all this snow outside ...

Time for Christmas Trees ...

I started sewing a table topper with pieced trees for Christmas Day.
(after this wonderful tute: http://www.purlbee.com/little-forest-quilt/)
Well - they are fun to make, it takes a little time, but every single tree is different in size-aarrgghh - measuring is not my specialty it seems)
She has given me the idea: http://www.flickr.com/photos/philistinemade/4184035869/ - and she´s soooo fast!

After I have thought they are enough, I started sewing them together. I love how it looks - but on our table it was just TOO SMALL!
So - once again: sewing trees! And I tried out another tute: paper pieced gnomes!! Oh my God, it took TIME and some trial and error till I got the first step right! But then - so easy!!
Look for the tute here: http://artisania.wordpress.com/2008/08/01/sewing-more-complex-paper-pieced-patterns/
So I made three gnomes: one in the middle, and one in one corner. So now it´s now called "gnomes forest".

(My shadow!)
I just quilted it in some straight lines. My first idea was to make some pebble quilting - but the I thought there was to much motives there, it will look confusing, to much strutcture... so - just some lines!
Now, let´s see if I can find some time to make the binding ...

Time for some fun sewing ...

My selling sales are not so huge this time before Xmas, so I have some time to sew what I like to sew...

I have these squares for a while - nice colours, but I didn´t quite know what to do with them...
well, till I saw this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/redpepperquilts/4167153297/ - a wonderful idea by redpepperquilts!

This is my interpretation:
And then I started the pebbles quilting... I LOVE the look of it. I thought, let´s start improving my quilting skills (which are pretty low)

Some pebbles are not so nice...
Some ARE nice...
But I must say: this quilting is time AND thread consuming... imagine this on a REAL big quilt!
Tomorrow I will do the binding - and find a place for it... :)

time for.....
... new lavender filled houses???

Well, it was busy these days!! Working, sewing and last weekend: the christmas show in Kisslegg! My sister lives there, and its always a nice family weekend. The specialty there is: its inside a castle like building - such a nice athmosphere! The selling went very well (smiiiiile), there were people which bought at my stall last year and they came again - yeah!

And I realized: I need more space next year: the table was too crowded!

time for letters ....

The art show in my hometown is over and went really good - that was fun! And it was such a beautiful room!
I have made a little garland with my name in fabric letters to hang up. Can you see it??? A woman saw it and said "Oh, do you have other letters? This would be nice for my grandchildren!" Well, she ordered three garlands for her grandchildren, how great is this???

So the next days after the show were filled with.... letters! Take a look:
Of course I thought: ok, if there is one customer, there are maybe more....so I wanted to make many more for the Christmas show in 2 weeks! So I started and sew and cut and sew and cut ....and realised this takes time and time which I just don´t have! So the garlands will be made on order! I can´t sew as many letters as to make any names...pfffff
But I really like how these garlands look - that´s pretty nice at my working space wall!!!Barbara from "Miss Pelican"blog gave me a little challenge: take a picture of your working table just as it is at the moment, without tidying up! Well, the perfect time: my table was sooo horrible because of all these letters, I just cleaned it up yesterday! So all I can show now is a wonderful organized table.....(it isn´t that way loooong) These little beauties will be little pouches for your glasses and sunglasses....So I have to challenge three more....now I have to look around and contact some ladies ...lol

time for work and time for making bags ...

At the moment I´m working part time. The rest of the day I´m sharing with my kids, their homework and sewing! At Saturday I´m on an arts show in my hometown! So all I do is preapring and I don´t take much time for internet - please excuse me for that!

I have made some new bags. I tried a new design, a new shape.

I have some green heavy weight decor fabric which I wanted to use - but I wanted to try out the new shape first: so I made this black one, a little smaller than the original size. It has a zippered pocket and some leaves for decoration. They are some kind of loose, I like how it looks!

Then the "reading horse": bigger, but the same shape .... a plain design, because of the texture of this cool fabric!I have cut out this horse from an IKEA fabric some years ago! I just loved it and thought - well, maybe some time I need it... the text is written in Swedish, the lining fabric is according to it, but in English. That´s so great! I have bought this fabric some time ago...
The other bags are new too....

You can see I love houses! I tried some variations, played around a little bit. But - they are all some kind of green!! I made them over some weeks - but it seems i´m kind of green these days....

So now I need to make some lavender houses and some hearts and some stars ....

Oh - the German text I will do tomorrow!
