Time for ... pfffffs and finishing some WIPs

had some hard time deciciding what to make for Anne for Placemat Swap 3 ... as usual ... And then at the end - time is short .... pffffff
So today I wanted to finish it - but I din´t like what I have done so far ... took some flickr time, but the result just was that I didn´t know what ti do - again! pfffff no.2
Hmmm time for sewing something in between:

Once again: a little mug rug! With a little hand embroidery this time ... My stitches need some more practise ...pffff no.3 - but it looks kind of cute...
This little project soothed my nerves a little bit - looking again at my placemat ... well I decided to like it anyway and started to quilt in in wonky lines, then added some handquilting, some little embroidery. I saw a little star stitch in a quilt book - now I have seen that I changed the stitch (I just didn´t look how to do it right) but - it looks nice - so the placemat has got some individual monaw star stitches :)

Well - can you see it??? The hexagon fever took me - lol ....

Time for .... 16 cozy cases

I just love how they look together :)

Time for .... sun and sunglasses ...

I have started to make some eyeglasse cases with some of my most favourite fabrics (oh that´s soo hard to cut into ...) The sun is shining so you may be in need of some cozy cases ... I thought.
That´s how my work space looked today:

I started one day with cutting fabric and fabric and cutting batting  ....
Starting sewing is just more fun! I have bought some high loft polyester batting to provide a good protection for the glasses - but this was a pain in the neck .... aaarrrgghh. Can you imagine the feeling of the batting in your fingers ... The next time I´ll use some cotton mix batting!!

What a lovely thing to do: turn around all of these!

I always forget how many steps I have to do... from cutting till it´s finished... not to forget ironing those small things .... watch out my fingers!!!

Almost at the end ... now I just have to close the opening in the lining ... and the fun part: choosing the buttons!

Time for .... wordless Friday

Time for ... new patterns ...

I have seen this lovely picture by msmcporkchop... she made a "mug rug": so cute and lovely! I always have some sopts on my table so when I had some time I took some hst which were waiting for their time ...

... not quite as cute but I like it - the shape is a little like a tiny quilt ... I´ll do some more (nice to train my machine quilting - maybe a little handquilting????)

The next project this week was some kind of adventure: Brioni (flossybossy) from  the Euro Bee Group wanted a special String X Block. This took some time in sewing and ironing ... measuring and cutting ans sewing and ironing ...
the finished block is great - what an impressing pattern!
There were some cutted triangles left over ... big enough to make something .... I made four squares, then a little white around, to create this "memory block".

And because I love recycling I reused the envelope Brioni has sent her fabrics to my house (I try to reuse almost every envelope I receive...) ... so its a "Two Way" envelope...

I used a page from an older catalogue with some great pictures from New York ... those pictures are just too lovely to throw away ... :)

Time for ... pillows ...

..We are all waiting for spring ... it´s soo cold today - but the sun is shining!!!!
I started making some pillows this week. Buket (bukiby) wants new pillows ... so we were working on the first one. Some appliqued houses on reused on linen ... the back:

The other pillow is not a pillow cover but a stuffed pillow. Just a try to make some cosy houses...

The last days I worked on my contribution for the EURO BLOCK BEE! I wanted a quilt with white and many colours .... but what pattern???? And how to cut the fabrics ...??

I decided to make my own block, in two variations. A combination between a strict pattern and instructions and fixed fabrics and own creativity with own fabrics....With some free space for applications... so I always know which block was made by whom!

I took a little package of my own and tried out:

Yesterday evening, on my dinner table:

Each member receives over 30 2 1/2" squares, 1 6 1/2" either in white or beige and one 2 1/2" strip either in white or beige. I would appreciate if you chose some scraps of your stash for  the little squares in the corners, but you can use the left over squares too (then you have to cut them to 1 1/2" squares). Please use a 1/4" seam. This will make a 14 1/2" block.
There is 1 rule: please use the three squares black newspaper (authentique by moda), red polka dots (wee play by moda) and yellow polka dots! The other squares you can choose - there are enough! Please send some of  the left over squares back (I´ll like to make a pieced border or binding) - thank you!

Additional I would ask you (or you do it as the first step - up to you) to add some applique on the center block! Choose the design, what you like! A house, a dog, a bird .... it would be lovely if you add some of your own fabrics...is this ok with you???????? I would love to make a very colourful quilt - and would be more colourful if there are some foreign fabrics in there ....

I´ll send the packages on Monday or Tuesday!!!!!
